Universities | Teesside University

The University of Teesside is a dynamic modern university dedicated to delivering quality programmes of study; demonstrating a commitment to social inclusion and widening participation; and contributing to the success of the community it serves.

The University of Teesside is on one compact site in the centre of Middlesbrough. All our teaching facilities, support services, student accommodation and the Students' Union are within easy walking distance. The campus blends traditional buildings with eye-catching new facilities, the result of the University's investment of nearly 100m in recent years.

Teesside has top quality sporting facilities. Our spectacular 6.5m sports complex, the Olympia building, includes a large sports hall for staging major tournaments, with capacity for 500 spectators.

It also houses sport and exercise laboratories, a temperature-controlled environment chamber which can simulate climates, squash courts and an outside floodlit artificial turf pitch.

A second sports hall and sauna suite complement our Fitness Studio, which provides a comprehensive range of high-tech cardio-vascular and resistance machines.

Three miles from the campus, the 60-acre Saltersgill Sports Ground includes grass pitches for soccer, rugby union and league and American and Gaelic football.

The Tees Barrage offers a world-class white water rafting course. Up river you'll find the River Tees Water Sports Centre, which is part-owned by the University, where you can take part in a range of water sports, principally rowing.

The Students' Union supports a wide range of clubs, from Aikido to Volleyball. All abilities are welcome.

An Elite Athlete Bursary Scheme offers financial support to talented students competing at national level or who have the potential to do so. Bursaries of up to 2,000 are available.
Teesside is committed to its involvement with the British Universities Sports Association (BUSA), which represents over 40 different sporting disciplines.
