Universities
The five Sports Universities all share a common goal in striving to make a commitment to regional development through sport. Additional information on each of the Universities involved in the SUNEE (Sport Universities North East England) is listed below.

Durham University
Founded in 1832, Durham is a world class university offering academic excellence. In 2006/07 Durham University was placed 8th in the Sunday Times Guide to UK Universities and in 2005/06 was awarded University of the Year. The University offers over 200 programmes of undergraduate study and many departments have been rated “excellent” by the Quality Assurance Agency.

Newcastle University
Newcastle University is one of the most popular in the UK experiencing a 40% increase in applications since 2003. The University prides itself on the quality of its teaching in over 200 undergraduate degree programmes. The quality of this teaching has been endorsed by the Quality Assurance Agency, employers and the students themselves in the 2005 National Student Survey.

Northumbria University
Northumbria University is a modern University situated in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. In 2005 it was named best new university by The Times Good University Guide. The university offers a broad range of courses in a variety of different subject areas, all of which were awarded a minimum of 20 out of 24 points by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) when assessed.
