Projects | Schools
We provide our students with National Governing Body qualifications and, by working with numerous partners, look to provide them with a wide variety of coaching and volunteering opportunities with young people.
Our work with schools takes a variety of forms:
- Student coaches accessing schools to delivery sports specific activities in line with the governments extending activities programme
- Student volunteering with community based activities eg in Middlesbrough we place students as volunteers with the Street Games programme
- Schools bringing children into the university for activity days led by university students
- Large scale events hosted by the university utilising our students as volunteers
- Community events where students assist organisers as volunteers
- Working with excluded young people offering regular sport and physical activity sessions
- Students assisting in providing multi-sports academies to Gifted and Talented young people.
This is not an exhaustive list of the activities SUNEE is engaged in but hopefully offers an insight into the sort of opportunities we are lookin to provide for our students.
In addition to this work, SUNEE is also looking to work in partnership with Competition Managers to develop a number of competition structures in chosen sports over the forthcoming years.
Funding for this strand of our work is provided by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). Project commenced September 2008.
