News | SUMMER HOLIDAY SPORTS PROGRAMME GIVEN THUMBS UP
The course, which runs throughout the summer holidays every Tuesday, has proved a massive success, keeping children active through a wide variety of multi sports and activities.
From football to manicures, the programme held at Raich Carter Sports and Health centre aims to give the kids involved a release from boredom whilst they are off school.
Kieran Adey, 11, has attended the summer course after finding out about it through Wear Kids – a local Looked after Children agency.
Kieran said: “I really enjoy coming to the camp, because it stops me from being bored and I’ve made loads of friends since coming.
Kieran – who is hoping to work in sport or as a P.E teacher when he is older – thinks the university running the course is a really good idea.
He added: “the students help loads and make the activities really fun. The best thing was when I beat one of them on the Xbox.”
Connor Maughan, 11, found out about the course through a local social club and is enjoying everything the course has to offer.
Connor said: “This is great, I’m meeting new people and getting the chance to do things I couldn’t normally.
“Instead of lying around the house being lazy, the summer program is keeping me entertained while I’m off school and I’m really enjoying it.”
